Artwork Charges

! PLEASE READ THIS PRIOR TO SUBMITTING ARTWORK !

 

There are three levels of service provided by our reprographics department.

1. STANDARD SERVICE

We take your native files and prepare them for printing. Included in Standard and Package Prices.

2. PDF CHECK

We take your print ready PDFs and check them prior to printing.

Checking Charge£30.00

If we detect a minor problem that can be changed immediately we will do this for free. If we detect a larger problem that can be changed but which requires more work, we will charge you for the correction.

Correction Charge£15.00

If we detect a problem that we are unable to correct we will ask you to re-supply your artwork. You will be charged for re-checking each time your artwork is re-supplied.

Re-Supply Charge£20.00

The following list is a guide to what will be checked and some of things we will not check.

What WILL be checked:

  • Grayscale and colour Images are at least 300dpi (or 600dpi for onbody artwork).
  • Bitmap images are at least 600dpi.
  • Images are CMYK or greyscale.
  • The ink coverage limits are correct.
  • The document creates the correct number of plates.
  • Bleed is included.
  • Page size is correct or spec size is correct.
  • Barcode is 1 colour and correct resolution.
  • All fonts are embedded.
  • Text is over minimum size.

What WON'T be checked.

  • Spelling, grammar or any written or image content.
  • Design aspects of the artwork.
  • Text legibility.
  • Images printing poorly due to the quality of images being used.
  • The page order of artwork.
  • Text, including spine text, has the correct orientation.

3. STRAIGHT TO PRESS

Your PDFs are sent directly to the printers. If the files you supply are incorrect and are caught prior to printing you will be asked to re-supply and will be charged.

Re-Supply Charge£40.00

This service is only recomended for design professionals with experience in supplying Print Ready PDFs for CTP

If you are supplying print ready PDF files, we recommend that you contact your planner or sales person to receive one of our Designers Guides. These show detailed settings and are specific to each printer and pressing plant that we use. Please ensure that you have the correct template to work with and that you carefully follow the instructions in the guide.

If you have any questions about the guide, please email our repro department repro@keyproduction.co.uk and they will respond to basic questions. If you feel you do not fully understand the guide, then please opt for the CHECKING Option as it may well be cheaper in the long run. Please do not inundate us with questions as we will be unable to respond to these.

If the files you supply are incorrect and are caught prior to printing you will be asked to re-supply the files with a re-supply charge of £40.00 + VAT

Each time a file is re-supplied straight to print a further charge will apply and the schedule of your job may be postponed £40.00 + VAT

Please note that for STRAIGHT TO PRESS jobs you will be required to sign a disclaimer form.

Your job will not proceed until the disclaimer form has been completed and returned to your Key representative.
