EXAMPLES

'The following are some examples of such projects. For a complete overview of all of the current projects visit CarbonNeutral - Project Locations

  • In India, dirty and dangerous kerosene burners have been replaced with solar panels. SELCO won the Enterprise category in the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy in 2005. They are reducing dependence on expensive, inefficient and polluting kerosene lamps, by replacing them with solar lighting systems. This project will offset about 12,500 tonnes of CO2 between 2004-2008.
  • In the USA a disused Pennsylvanian Coal Mine has had a methane capture system installed. Methane has 21 times the global warming potential of CO2. The project will generate emission reductions of 133,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent between 2006 and 2010.
  • A Wind power project in Inner Mongolia. This project in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China sees the construction of 36 new wind turbines. Electricity will be generated for the local grid and the project will generate emission reductions of an estimated 138,000 tonnes of CO2 between 2005 and 2007.
