Our Music Download service is effectively a specialist hosting service with a custom application built-in to streamline and optimise the process. As such we provide you with a unique Domain Name (.co.uk) which will be agreed with you and will be registered for two years on your behalf and in your name. The cost for this is incorporated into the setup cost. We normally recomend something like www.yourlabeldownloads.co.uk. If you wish to use something other than a .co.uk then there may be an additional charge. Please contact us for a complete price list.
We recommend that MP3s should be encoded at either 256Kbs or 320Kbs and they should not exceed 320Kbs. MP3s encoded at a higher bit rate that 320Kbs may incur an additional bandwidth charge.
If there are multiple tracks then the running order must be be indicated in one of two ways. The information can be added to the ID3 tags if they are the more recent version 2.1 or alternatively it can be added by incorporating the track number in the file name as shown in the example below. If you are unsure then use this second method and make sure you include a leading zero for tracks 01 to 09.
01 Intro.mp3
02 The First Song.mp3
03 Another Song.mp3
04 The Last Song.mp3
The artist name and track title displayed on the download page are taken automatically from the ID3 information embedded in the MP3 file so it is important that this information is correct. You must add the ID3 tag information for Artist and Track name and check the information is correct before you upload the MP3s.
Before you upload your MP3s they must be collected together in a folder and then zipped to produce a .zip file (albumtracks.zip). You will not be able to upload your files unless they have been zipped.
We offer a high degree of customisation for your landing page that allows you to maintain record label identity accross all your pages or provide different bands with their own distinctive look. In addition to a packshot you can also upload a banner image, a background image, alter the colour of the text and other page elements and chose between monotype, serif or sans serif typeface. We provide a layered photoshop template (see below) to help you visualise your page and prepare your images to the correct spec. The first few images to the right provide axamples of what can be achieved, please click an image for information gallery.
Displayed to the left of the tracklisting on the Music Download page is a square image. This is generally a pack shot but may be any other image provided it conforms to the specs. It must be a square image 300 x 300 pixels supplied as a JPG or PNG.
Displayed at the top of the page this would generally incorporate the label or band name and also acts as a button/link to a URL of your choosing. It must be a horizontal rectangular image 960 x 150 pixels supplied as a JPG or PNG. A 24 bit PNG can use transparency to overlay a background image or colour.
This image is centered behind the page contents and provides many possibilities. It must be a rectangular image 1920 x 1200 pixels supplied as a JPG or PNG and must be less than 600 kilobytes in size. Alternatively you may select a colour for the background instead of using an image. Remember that larger image file sizes will slow the loading of your page.
The text used for the title and track listing can be monospace (courier), serif (times) or sans serif (arial) and may be in any colour you choose described as a hexadecimal. Hexadecimal is an RGB colour system that looks like this #23A4R8.
The colour of the frame around the packshot and the boxes behind the text of the tracklisting can be any hexadecimal colour to contrast with the text in front.
This is a box that contains all the page elements. It may be a solid hexadecimal colour which will partially obscure any background image or made transparent revealing the background colour or image.
We provide this photoshop template to help you visualise the page design and prepare the images correctly. The images 3 to 6 in the image gallery to the right give more detail about how to use the photoshop file. This is only a guide and may not exactly reflect what you see on line.
