The album’s cover artwork was illustrated by Ed Steed of The New Yorker and is available in four different variants. The deluxe 2xLP version comes on “aluminium and copper” vinyl and includes all four variants of the cover in a customisable sleeve.

Pure Comedy is Father John Misty’s third album. Tillman wrote the majority of it throughout 2015 and recorded all the basic tracking and vocals live to tape (in no more than two takes each), at the legendary United Studios (Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Ray Charles) in Hollywood, CA.
